Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)

Psychiatric/Mental Health (PMH) Registered NurseThe Psychiatric/Mental Health (PMH) Registered Nurse, requires a wide range of nursing, psychosocial, and neurobiological expertise. PMH nurses promote well-being through prevention and education, in addition to the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. The nurse demonstrates ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner and demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care. The PMH RN works in a variety of settings and provides comprehensive care to individuals, families, and communities when applicable.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in a psychiatric facility settingPartners with individuals to achieve their recovery goalsProvides health promotion and maintenanceConducts intake screening, evaluation, and triageProvides case managementTeaches self-care activitiesAdministers and monitors psychobiological treatment regimensPractices crisis intervention and stabilizationEngages in psychiatric rehabilitation and interventionEducates patients, families, and communitiesCoordinates care within interdisciplinary teamsEvaluates signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's conditionIdentifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirementsProvides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environmentRevises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in psychiatric and medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventionsHas strong awareness and understanding of suicide preventionUnderstands community resources and outpatient programs for mental health and substance use disordersAdheres to Facility/Client procedures and protocols at all timesPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:Current Registered Nurse Licensure in-state practicingComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programsAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
