Nuclear Medicine Radiologist Academic & Community

Position Description The Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri is seeking a full-time Nuclear Medicine Physician to join its Academic of Nuclear Medicine & Community Divisions with a primary clinical base at Missouri Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) . This is a dedicated nuclear medicine position . The successful candidate will practice mainly at MBMC while with an academic appointment in Division of Nuclear Medicine and Community Practice at Washington University. In addition to MBMC, the physician will provide nuclear medicine and molecular imaging coverage across all MIR-affiliated academic and community hospitals , supporting consistent, high-quality care throughout the regional health system. MIR is the academic Department of Radiology for Washington University School of Medicine and is clinically affiliated with Barnes-Jewish Hospital , a nationally ranked hospital by News & World Report. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine community-based nuclear medicine practice with academic collaboration, education, and access to MIR’s nationally recognized molecular imaging, radiopharmaceutical, and translational research infrastructure. Clinical Environment and Resources MIR offers a robust and nationally recognized nuclear medicine and molecular imaging program with state-of-the-art resources, including: PET/MRI, PET/CT, and SPECT/CT platforms Multiple on-site medical cyclotrons GMP radiopharmaceutical production facilities Advanced theranostics and radiopharmaceutical therapy programs Clinical practice spans both academic and community-based settings across the BJC HealthCare system, including community hospitals in St. Louis County and St. Charles County. This structure provides a diverse case mix, allowing faculty to maintain subspecialty expertise while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a community practice environment. Subspecialty collaboration with MIR’s academic sections is integral for complex cases and ongoing professional growth. These resources support cutting-edge clinical care as well as translational and investigator-initiated research. Key Responsibilities Provide nuclear medicine and molecular imaging interpretations in academic and community settings Participate in radiopharmaceutical therapy and theranostics programs, as appropriate to training Communicate findings clearly and promptly with referring providers Contribute to quality, safety, and protocol standardization initiatives across the enterprise Engage with academic nuclear medicine colleagues for complex cases and clinical consultation Faculty Appointment & Compensation/Benefits Faculty will be appointed on the Clinician track, with rank commensurate with experience. The position may be structured as full-time or part-time, with clinical responsibilities tailored to the individual’s training and professional interests.
