Our organization is looking for a full-time psychiatrist (1.0 FTE) to join our team in Portland, Maine . This unique position allows for engagement across two levels of care, offering a blend of intensive, team-oriented psychiatric services and traditional outpatient treatment within a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.

• 5 days per week at our Spring Harbor Hospital Outpatient Clinic , and
• 5 days per week in our Ambulatory Outpatient Program , both situated at 165 Lancaster Street .

About the Spring Harbor Outpatient Clinic:
This clinic serves as a bridge between intensive services (such as hospitalization or partial hospitalization) and standard outpatient care, providing an alternative for patients who need more comprehensive treatment than what typical outpatient visits offer. The program includes:

• A structured, team-based approach to care
• Personalized treatment planning with defined tracks and durations of stay
• A multidisciplinary team comprising psychiatrists, social workers, and nursing staff
• A focus on alleviating psychiatric symptoms and preventing the need for inpatient hospitalization

The appointed psychiatrist will act as the lead of the interdisciplinary team , performing psychiatric evaluations, overseeing medication management, and collaborating on treatment planning with primary care providers and psychiatric nursing personnel.

About the MaineHealth Behavioral Health Outpatient Program:
The Ambulatory Outpatient Program in Portland is transitioning to a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, which guarantees timely access to comprehensive, coordinated behavioral health services for individuals and families in Cumberland County. Services offered include:

• Psychiatric evaluations and medication management
• Individual and family therapy, peer support services, and care coordination
• An established Dialectical Behavioral Therapy program
• Trauma-informed, recovery-oriented methodologies
• Support for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
• Telehealth and hybrid care options

Minimum Qualifications:

• MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry
• Current or eligible licensure as a physician by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine
• Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or eligibility for examination, as evidenced by written documentation
• Board Certified or board eligible in general psychiatry
• Current DEA Registration Certificate
• At least 3 years of experience, including residency and/or fellowship training
• Experience or interest in partial hospitalization, co-occurring disorders, or integrated care is preferred
• A strong commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care
