Job details

Key responsibilities:

• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain food processing and packaging equipment in a USDA production environment
• Set up, troubleshoot, and repair stacking, bagging, check-weighing, UPC bar coding, case erector, and conveyor equipment
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair 110/230/460V electrical equipment including motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit, and wiring
• Read and interpret electrical control schematics for troubleshooting purposes
• Perform minor programming and troubleshooting of VFDs and PLCs
• Dismantle and reassemble equipment for repairs, cleaning, and lubrication per established maintenance schedules
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance across all facility equipment
• Ensure all equipment is ready and in dependable operating condition prior to production
• Fabricate parts and modify equipment as required
• Maintain building compliance with city and fire regulations
• Assist in coaching and training of maintenance and operations personnel
• Adhere to all safety programs including lockout/tagout, ladder safety, and PPE requirements
• Comply with SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing requirements
• Report food safety concerns, unsafe conditions, and out-of-specification product or materials to supervision immediately
• Provide rapid response to equipment malfunctions and breakdowns

Qualifications needed:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience in a food manufacturing environment (USDA or FDA regulated)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical control schematics
• Proficiency with hand and power tools; safe operation of machinery
• Ability to work the weekend shift: FridayMonday, 9:00 AM7:30 PM
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Valid Illinois Driver's License preferred
• Physical requirements: lift up to 50 lbs; stand/walk for extended periods; work in refrigerated and frozen environments; work at 2530 foot elevations using a man-lift; push/pull heavy loads using hand jack
