• Specialty: PACU Phase 1 / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse
• Location: Weirton, WV 26062
• Setting: Acute care post-anesthesia recovery unit
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts
• Schedule: Typically 4 shifts per week; call required
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,200 - $2,310
• Charting System: Cerner, transitioning to Epic
• Unit Size: 14 beds
• Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
• Call Requirements: Weeknight and weekend call as assigned

Job Requirements

• Active RN license
• Minimum 1 year of PACU nursing experience required
• Experience managing a ventilated patient required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required
• Ability to assess and respond quickly in a post-op recovery environment
• Comfort working in a collaborative team setting with anesthesia and respiratory support available
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and clinical judgment

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough postoperative assessments and monitor patients during PACU recovery
• Provide safe and effective pain management support
• Implement recovery protocols and escalate changes in condition appropriately
• Educate patients and families on postoperative care instructions, medications, and follow-up planning
• Care for a variety of surgical cases, including general, orthopedic, urology, vascular, and podiatry
• Support recovery for higher-acuity patients, including those transferring to PACU from ICU
• Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to smooth patient flow in the unit
