Senior Manager, Clean Energy Infrastructure Policy

Location Washington, DC Position Summary Reporting to the Senior Director of Climate Strategies, the Senior Manager, Clean Energy Infrastructure Policy will play a key role on the national Climate Team. The Senior Manager will partner with state and regional policy staff to develop and implement high‑impact policies that advance Audubon’s clean‑energy infrastructure goals—supporting rapid, responsible onboarding of utility‑scale wind and solar projects and modernizing a transmission grid for the clean energy transition. Responsibilities include research, policy analysis, persuasive writing, and strategic guidance; expanding state‑level capacity and providing tools for Audubon’s network, such as background materials for consultants and internal communications. Essential Functions Work with the Climate Program team, policy leaders, State Policy Directors, and chapters to support clean‑energy and transmission state policy engagement. Identify high‑impact state policy priorities that align with federal goals and assess policy opportunities across all timelines. Develop and implement strategies that advance rapid, responsible clean‑energy deployment. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments through state staff and partner organizations. Raise Audubon’s policy profile with education organizations and coalitions such as Climate XChange and the National Council of Environmental Legislators. Represent Audubon with internal and external partners, delivering written and oral testimony before decision bodies. Attend regulatory meetings, legislative proceedings, and state‑level events. Provide issue briefs and materials that support state‑level policy priorities. Collaborate with communications staff on articles, blogs, newsletters, press releases, and social‑media posts. Mobilize key allies and stakeholders to amplify policy priorities with decision makers. Coordinate action alerts and engagement opportunities for chapters and members. Represent Audubon in national coalitions and partner organizations focused on state policies. Support philanthropy efforts and identify funding opportunities for clean‑energy infrastructure deployment. Collaborate across the Americas through joint planning and execution of shared priorities. Maintain a culture of safety and foster a supportive work environment. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in clean‑energy or transmission policy, or related conservation policy. Deep understanding of wildlife conservation issues, including mitigating conflicts between clean‑energy infrastructure and wildlife. Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills. Proven project‑management experience with successful completions. Creative conflict resolution skills grounded in sound science. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Outstanding policy analysis, research, and strategic communication abilities. Strong oral and written communication skills that adapt to diverse audiences.
