Position Summary

The Energy Working Foreman is responsible for leading and actively participating in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical utility infrastructure. This position serves as the on-site leader for assigned crews, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory standards.

The Energy Working Foreman provides hands-on leadership while coordinating daily crew activities, monitoring productivity, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a strong safety culture. This role requires a working knowledge of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, utility construction practices, and crew supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise field crews performing electrical utility construction, maintenance, and restoration work.
• Actively participate in field operations while providing direction and support to crew members.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate daily job activities to meet project goals and deadlines.
• Interpret utility prints, staking sheets, maps, specifications, and work orders.
• Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inspection of tools, equipment, vehicles, and safety gear.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and customer-specific requirements.
• Conduct daily job briefings, safety meetings, and hazard assessments.
• Monitor job progress, productivity, and workmanship to ensure quality standards are met.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, utility representatives, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Train, mentor, and develop crew members in safe work practices, technical skills, and company procedures.
• Complete and submit required reports, timesheets, equipment logs, and production documentation.
• Manage materials and resources to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
• Respond to storm restoration efforts, emergency outages, and other urgent operational needs as required.
• Promote a positive work environment focused on communication, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in utility construction, electrical distribution, or energy infrastructure work.
• Previous experience leading crews in a Foreman, Lead Lineman, or similar supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
• Ability to read and interpret utility prints, construction drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, utility safety standards, and industry best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment and adapt to changing project conditions.
• Proficient in completing reports, documenting work performed, and maintaining project records.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL Class A preferred or ability to obtain one.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
• Ability to safely operate and work around utility equipment, trucks, and construction machinery.
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and emergency call-out assignments as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL Class A license.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Knowledge of electric cooperative, municipal utility, or investor-owned utility operations.
• Experience with utility storm restoration and emergency response efforts.
