Primary Purpose Provides professional support to the Tax Department in meeting the goals and objectives of Financial Operations. Essential Job Functions Responsible for all aspects of the tax compliance processes, including the preparation of the workpapers, and preparing and timely filing returns, including but not limited to: a) sales and use taxes for Florida and PuertoRico, and b) income tax withholding related to PuertoRico service providers c) other state and local filings as they arise. Responsible for the accounting and monthly reconciliation of the tax liability accounts for sales and use tax and income tax withholding. Prepares other returns and supporting workpapers as assigned by the Tax Manager, such as those related to the Form990, 990T, 1041s, and 5500s. Assists in the operation/maintenance of the tax filing software ProSystem. Stays abreast of tax law changes in PuertoRico and Florida regarding the tax filings noted in number1 above and updates the Tax Manager, Tax Director, and affected Departments. Recommends, creates, and updates policies and procedures as needed. Assists in providing training and conducts meetings throughout the University as needed to disseminate information, improve processes, or improve reporting functionality. Assists in the monthly and fiscal year-end process as needed, including but not limited to the preparation of work papers, reconciliations, and account analysis. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Required Education: Bachelor's Degree Required Experience: Four (4) years’ experience in an Accounting/Tax-related position. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Accounting and/or CPA. Familiarity with fund and/or not-for-profit accounting principles. Knowledgeable of Tax accounting rules and regulations for non-profits. Familiarity with Banner Financial Systems.
