Security Officer IIThe Security Officer II is responsible for providing a secure and safe building for peers, staff, patients, and providers. Position requirements/qualifications include a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with one-year experience working as a security officer. General knowledge of security duties is required. Educational courses in law enforcement are desired. Florida state unarmed guard license is desired. Maintain current CPR certification from the American Heart Association. Must have an active Florida driver's license. Ability to use good judgment and tact in working with persons of various ethnic backgrounds. Good physical condition to run and restrain patients. Forty hours per week, five days per week, and nights as scheduled.Position responsibilities include maintaining crowd control for all CHI patient care and mall areas. Providing immediate response to pages and radio calls. Ensuring that lights are turned on or off as required. Patrolling staff and patient/visitor parking lots, directing traffic when required, issuing traffic notices to parking violators as required. Completing irregularity reports on all irregularities: thefts, fires, and on any misconduct by staff, patients, or visitors who break CHI rules and regulations. Notifying metro police of all break-ins; car thefts, hubcaps, batteries, acts of vandalism, and disturbances. Maintaining key control of the building at all times. Locking and unlocking center exit doors, department doors, lock, and unlock outside gates as required. Performing building checks for CHI off-site properties. Assisting staff and patients/visitors whenever needed or called upon. Contacting designated administrative staff person as soon as an unusual incident or situation is known. Receiving and investigating reports of problems to determine appropriate response. Raising or lowering the US flag by 8:00 AM (mornings) or 6:00 PM (evenings) on normal CHI workdays. Maintaining and completing all required entries in the security logbook. Processing in/out new or terminated CHI employees. Activating and deactivating the alarm system at CHI facilities as required. Constantly reporting all safety hazardous conditions observed to the safety officer. Issuing identification badges and vehicle decals to all new CHI employees. Reporting on findings, and actions taken and results of measurement. Demonstrating the ability to communicate the company's mission, vision, and values, as well as departmental goals, to all staff. Demonstrating a commitment to a healthy work environment by modeling the desired behaviors and encouraging those in others. Collaborating with other departments to create systems and solve ongoing issues that impact departmental/organizational goals and/or patient care delivery. Written safety management plan is reviewed annually and kept up to date in the field of safety through current literature. Attending meetings and trainings as directed by the chief security officer or deputy chief security officer. Responsibly following the company's exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens. Demonstrating knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment. Ensuring a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures. Promoting effective working relations and working effectively as part of department/unit team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives. Maintaining a professional composure and confidence during stressful situations. Conducting all work activities with respect, rights, and wishes of patients, visitors, families, and fellow employees. Providing managers/staff with guidance and resources to identify/control areas for safety risk. Coordinating regular hazard surveillance tours of the facility including departmental follow-up of recommendations. Taking timely action to intervene in situations or conditions that pose an immediate threat to life, health, or property. Providing internal escorts for the Crisis Stabilization Unit clients' appointments. Providing external escorts for the Crisis Stabilization Unit clients' appointments. Performing tasks for the Behavioral Health Baker Act process. Assisting with transports of the Crisis Stabilization Unit clients to receiving facilities. Assisting with injections of the Crisis Stabilization Unit clients. Assisting with staff ratio of the Crisis Stabilization Unit staff when needed. Maintaining proficiency in performing live scan fingerprinting. May act as a mental health technician in extreme cases or when needed in the Crisis Stabilization Unit. Assisting with escorts for ambulance for Crisis Stabilization Unit clients. Providing traffic control for Miami-Dade rescue for emergency airlift transports. Providing 24-hour camera surveillance for all CHI facilities. Maintaining and keeping records of CHI laundry service. Reporting to work on time and ready to work with minimal absenteeism. Adhering to confidentiality policies and procedures/HIPAA regulations/human resources company policies and procedures. Performing other duties as assigned. Community Health of South Florida
