Job Description Summary As a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist at MUSC, you have access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment to capture detailed X-ray images, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment planning for a wide range of medical conditions across 16 community hospitals including 3 level 1 trauma centers and many unique outpatient clinics across South Carolina. Ensures diagnostic images are obtained accurately and efficiently for physician interpretation. Prepares and administers contrast agents as directed and under the supervision of a physician. Verifies patient identification, examination orders, and relevant clinical information prior to procedures. Positions patients appropriately and operates radiographic equipment safely and effectively. Maintains patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout examinations. Reviews images for quality and completeness and obtains additional images when necessary. Follows radiation safety practices and applicable departmental and regulatory standards. Documents examinations and patient information accurately in the appropriate electronic systems. Maintains equipment and work areas in accordance with department standards and infection prevention protocols. Required License Certification and Registration Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology. Experience: 0 to 2 years of modality specific work experience. Required Registration/Certification Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), If not registered must obtain the registry within 6 months of hire. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. (Continuous) Ability to lift and carry, up to 200 feet, 50#, unassisted. Ability to lift patients and move patients to 350#(+/-), assisted. Ability to lift objects from floor level to height of 72 inches, to 50#, unassisted. Ability to lower objects, to 50#(+/-), from height of 72 inches, unassisted. Ability to push/pull objects/patients to 350#(+/-), unassisted. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet. Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annua Additional New Requirements Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Computer literacy. Ability to work overtime as required.
