Carrier Sales Associate - Spot Freight
RJ Logistics is seeking a motivated and professional Carrier Sales Associate - Spot Freight to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop and strengthen relationships with quality carriers, ensuring the seamless movement of freight and delivering exceptional service to our clients. The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess strong communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, dispatchers, and load planners to ensure reliable transportation services
- Source new carriers to expand the existing carrier network and meet the company's transportation needs
- Negotiate rates and terms with carriers to optimize profitability and service quality
- Manage ongoing communication with carriers to secure additional truck capacity and address operational needs
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely pickup and delivery of shipments
- Monitor carrier performance and compliance to uphold company standards
- Resolve issues related to transportation, capacity, and scheduling efficiently and professionally
- Maintain accurate records of carrier interactions, agreements, and performance metrics

Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience in carrier sales, transportation, or logistics preferred
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting relationships
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Professional grit, resilience, and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of McLeod (TMS), DAT, Highway, and industry regulations is a plus
- Thrives in a team based collaborative environment with an independent result focus.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
