Job Description
- This role operates saw equipment in a production environment, loading parts and rods onto machines, performing manual outside operations, and documenting dimensional measurements to support efficient, high-quality manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Operate saws and related machinery safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
- Load parts and rods onto machines according to work instructions and production schedules.
- Perform outside operations, including manual handling and processing of parts as required.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers and other measuring tools to verify product specifications.
- Read and interpret simple manufacturing drawings and blueprints to understand part requirements.
- Accurately document dimensions and inspection results on required departmental paperwork.
- Apply basic math skills to verify measurements, tolerances, and quantities.
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and support continuous improvement.
- Support lean Six Sigma practices by following standardized processes and contributing to process improvements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Work effectively in a repetitive production setting, maintaining focus and consistency over long periods.
- Stand for extended periods during the shift to operate equipment and handle materials.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and resolve issues.
- Adapt to working additional hours as needed to support regular workloads of close to 50 hours per week.
Essential Skills
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with machine operation.
- Proficiency in machine operation, particularly saw operation and bandsaw use.
- At least 1 year of experience using calipers for dimensional inspection.
- At least 1 year of experience reading simple manufacturing drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to perform dimensional inspection and document measurements accurately.
- Ability to read and write at a High School or equivalent level to follow written instructions and complete paperwork.
- Basic math skills to support measurement and inspection tasks.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Understanding of lean Six Sigma concepts.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours in a production environment.
- Comfort working in a repetitive production setting while maintaining quality and safety.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent education.
- Experience with inspection tools beyond calipers is beneficial.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing and lean Six Sigma environments.
- Flexibility to work additional hours, including optional weekend shifts, when needed.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following standardized processes.

Work Environment
- This role is based in a production facility operating on a 2nd & 3rd shift schedule. You will work around saws, bandsaws, and other manufacturing equipment, handling parts and rods and performing manual operations. The position regularly approaches 50 working hours per week, with the facility open on Saturdays for optional additional work, so flexibility with hours is important. The environment is repetitive and fast-paced, requiring sustained focus and the ability to stand for up to 8 hours. You will use calipers and other inspection tools, follow lean manufacturing and lean Six Sigma practices, and work in a setting that prioritizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to standardized procedures. Dress will align with a typical manufacturing setting, including appropriate work attire and any required personal protective equipment.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.75 - $23.75/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
