Freight Handler

POSITION SUMMARY: Load outbound trucks, reconcile piece count and condition of cargo to corresponding documents, process cargo in warehouse for consolidation on outbound trailers and /or local delivery with regard for safety of cargo, personnel and company equipment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Inspect Cargo for damages - address exceptionsResponsible for Cargo StageOff load and load of Cargo, Loading of LTL Truck LoadWeight and dim of freightLoad balance on over the road trailersComply with all security and safety proceduresComply with TSA cargo regulationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Operating knowledge of warehouse equipment: load levelers, warehouse doors, pallet jacks, hand trucks, forkliftsKnowledge of warehousing operationsKnowledge of weight restrictions and requirements for load balance on over the road trailersMay be required to work overtime if mandated by operational needs.Problem resolution and reasoning abilityAbility to work in a fast pace environmentBe organized and prioritize work, multitaskHave initiative, be proactive and able to work independently and with othersMust be receptive to instructions and work with a sense of urgencyMust be able to pass an intensive background checkEXPERIENCE:Requires at least 3-4 years in a warehouse environment, and 2-3 years LTL truckloadRequires gas forklift and electric pallet jack experienceEDUCATIONRequires a high school diploma or GED.CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSESValid driver’s license required at time of hire.
