Housekeeping

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms, nursing stations, waiting areas, offices, and public spaces.
Disinfect high-touch surfaces in accordance with hospital infection control protocols.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces.
Empty trash, biohazard, and recycling containers following proper disposal procedures.
Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, tissues, and hand sanitizer dispensers.
Clean and maintain patient discharge rooms to prepare for new admissions.
Follow isolation room cleaning procedures and infection prevention guidelines.
Operate housekeeping equipment including vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and other cleaning tools.
Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to management.
Follow all OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and company safety policies.
Maintain professional and courteous interactions with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
Respond to emergency cleaning situations as needed.

Qualifications:


High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous housekeeping, janitorial, environmental services, or healthcare cleaning experience preferred but not required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable attendance and punctuality required.

Physical Requirements:


Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
Ability to push and pull housekeeping carts and equipment.
Frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Work Environment:


Healthcare facility setting.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and infectious materials while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
May be required to work weekends, holidays, evenings, or rotating shifts.

Preferred Skills:


Knowledge of infection prevention and sanitation practices.
Experience using commercial cleaning equipment.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
