Certified Medical Assistant

Community Health and Dental Care announces position openings for a Certified Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for performing a variety of duties working collaboratively with the medical provider and care coordinators/site coordinator. MA is part of a team creating an atmosphere that is receptive to other's thoughts and concerns to provide compassionate care between our patients and effective communication to the staff. The MA is involved in both the clinical and clerical duties of the practice to deliver optimal patient care services within the scope of the medical assistant's professional expertise. The MA must be certified and recertified in compliance with the MA's individual certification requirement.

Role Qualifications:

Education: Medical Assistant diploma/degree from an accredited school and/or formal training program required Documentation as a certified/registered medical assistant required

Experience: Computer experience required, EMR preferred, NextGen Preferred CPR certification required One to two years physician office experience preferred

Locations: Attendance required at assigned CHDC site(s)

Position Responsibilities:

• Participate in morning team huddles
• Participate in pre-visit planning activities
• Prepare exam rooms and patient for examination, treatment/procedures and assist provider
• Perform patient care procedures keeping in mind the age specific needs of the patient
• Prepare and administer medications and immunizations, under physician supervision
• Document data collected during the patient care process via electronic or paper medical record
• Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing and completes appropriate paperwork or electronic documentation necessary
• Order diagnostic studies per physician request and follow up with patient's results via proper protocol or standing order
• Keep inventory and process sample medications, prescriptions and refills, as directed by the physician.
• Maintain the dignity and confidentiality of the patient
• Documentation accurately reflects the patient care given
• Maintain patient registries as needed
• Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations
• Coordinate patient flow
• Act as a clinical preceptor
• Perform tasks as delegated by Provider in a timely manner
• Performs other duties as assigned

Mental Demands: Stressful due to time constraints and multiple tasks/procedures occurring at the same time. Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Manual Dexterity Required: Must be able to manipulate small electronic parts and controls.

Our History:

Community Health and Dental Care was formed through the generous funding of the Pottstown Area Health and Wellness Foundation along with various local businesses. Our doors opened in October 2008 with 39 medical and dental patients seen that first week and we've grown to see thousands of medical and dental patients each year. As a non-profit community health center, we have been organized to become the patient's medical home for preventive care and to promote overall well-being, thus reducing the number of emergency room visits.
