Role Description The Litigation Associate will work on civil defense matters, supporting senior attorneys in defending businesses, professionals, and insurers in complex litigation. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include drafting pleadings and motions, conducting legal research, assisting with discovery, preparing deposition outlines, and managing case files. The role also involves communicating with clients, participating in strategy discussions, and appearing in court under supervision as experience allows. This is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Charleston, WV, requiring regular collaboration with colleagues and staff to advance client matters effectively. Qualifications Strong foundation in Law, with demonstrated experience or interest in civil defense litigation. Proficiency in drafting and responding to motions, pleadings, and other litigation‑related filings. Advanced legal research skills, including analyzing statutes, case law, and regulations. Experience or training in handling depositions, including preparation of witnesses and outlines. Familiarity with trial and appellate court procedures and rules of civil procedure. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license (or eligibility for admission) to practice law in West Virginia. Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, attention to detail, and strong analytical abilities.
