Senior Bridge Engineer

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States Overview A growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join its Seattle transportation structures team. The firm delivers complex bridge, structural, seismic, and transportation infrastructure projects for WSDOT, Sound Transit, local municipalities, ports, and other public-sector clients across Washington and the Pacific Northwest. This position offers the opportunity to lead the design, seismic evaluation, rehabilitation, and delivery of technically challenging bridge projects while taking on increasing responsibility for project leadership, client relationships, and mentoring junior engineers. The role is ideal for a senior bridge engineer looking to work on major infrastructure programmes in one of the country's most seismically active regions. Key Responsibilities Lead the analysis, design, seismic assessment, and rehabilitation of bridge structures Prepare and review structural calculations, specifications, reports, quantities, and construction documents Perform advanced bridge and seismic analysis using industry-standard software Coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, drainage, traffic, rail/transit, and construction teams Deliver projects for WSDOT, Sound Transit, counties, municipalities, ports, and other transportation agencies Review technical work and mentor junior engineers and EITs Support project planning, proposals, scopes, budgets, and client coordination Ensure designs comply with AASHTO LRFD, Washington State Bridge Design Manual, and applicable seismic design requirements Contribute to QA/QC processes and technical excellence across bridge projects Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering 5–10+ years of bridge engineering experience PE license required; Washington PE preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity Experience delivering bridge projects for WSDOT, local agencies, transit authorities, or other transportation clients Strong background in steel and concrete bridge design, rehabilitation, and structural analysis Experience with seismic analysis, seismic retrofit, and earthquake-resistant bridge design is highly desirable Proficiency with software such as CSiBridge, OpenBridge Designer, SAP2000, MIDAS Civil, LEAP Bridge, LARSA 4D, or similar Strong understanding of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, AASHTO Seismic Guide Specifications, and WSDOT Bridge Design Manual Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical delivery Excellent communication, coordination, and client-facing skills Base salary between $140,000 – $180,000, depending on experience Hybrid work flexibility Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer contribution Generous paid time off and company holidays Professional development and tuition reimbursement PE/SE licensing support and continuing education Clear progression toward Project Manager, Technical Lead, or Structures Group Leader Opportunity to work on major bridge and seismic infrastructure projects throughout the Pacific Northwest #J-18808-Ljbffr TYG
