Medical Records Clerk

GENERAL PURPOSE:The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for maintaining Electronic Health Records (EHR), ensuring that all pertinent information is properly scanned into each record.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Maintain the EHRMaintains confidentiality of patient health informationScans all correspondence, lab, and x-ray reports into correct patient EHR, under correct tab, assuring that necessary signatures appear on documentsMaintains daily EHR worklistManage incoming and outgoing informationOpens incoming mail and processes outgoing mailCollects and delivers records and correspondenceEnsures proper documentation is copied for release of records and subpoenasAnswers calls regarding patient medical recordsAssists Receptionists as neededMay cover front desk in the absence of the ReceptionistMaintains patient portal requests and sends clinical messages as requiredProcesses documents according to proceduresResponsible for training new staff in Medical RecordsWorks with the Site Administrator to set clinic work prioritiesOther duties as assigned by supervisorQUALITIES & CHARACTERISTICS:Maintains a professional relationship and positive attitude with co-workers, the public, patients and all Ampla Health’s staff, Board of Directors and vendorsMaintains the highest professional ethics and is honest in dealing with people; is a model for all employees through his/her actionsStrive to learn more and is receptive to new challenges and opportunitiesDisplays enthusiasm toward the work and the mission of Ampla HealthPROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Must have a High School Diploma or GEDMust be able to type and file accuratelyExperience with medical/clerical office procedures preferredMust be able to use a calculatorBilingual (English/Spanish) (English/Punjabi) (English/Hmong) preferred but not requiredDemonstrate clear knowledge of Ampla Health’s clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocolsCOMMUNICATION SKILLS:Must have neat and legible handwritingMust be able to interact with patients courteously and calmlyAbility to communicate well with the publicPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Works well with patients in a generally comfortable environment office.
