Job Description:\n\n$24.00 - $26.11 / hour\n \nSUMMARY:\nReporting to the Operations Manager/Transportation Manager, the Supervisor I supervise small and medium sized move and install crews to complete projects for commercial customers. This position performs general manual labor and office furniture installation tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving office furniture and materials. In addition, this position assists with a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed, as it may require loading and unloading trucks from loading dock, using ramps or on lift-gates. Overall, this position is responsible to ensure the customer’s complete satisfaction and ensure extreme care not to damage goods or facilities during the install/move.\nThis position is also responsible for reporting and escalating any related issues about the job to the Project Manager or Account Manager. Typically obtains daily site work role assignments from Project Manager, however, may also receive assignments from the Dispatcher, Operations Supervisor, or Account Manager and directly reports to the Operations Manager/Transportation.\n \nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nAccount Assignments:\n· Checks for start time (for next day’s work schedule) with dispatch daily.\n· Arrives at Corovan dispatch office (or on-site), in complete uniform every day.\n· Obtains daily work assignments from dispatch or operations manager.\n· Sets, offsets, pushes, pulls, lifts, carries, and moves furniture, equipment and boxes as required.\n· Handles and stages product, performs detail work and trash-out functions on install projects.\n· Is able to read install plans and identify starting locations, staging locations and changes.\n· Inventory all major brands of systems furniture.\n· Handles and stages product, performs detail work and trash-out functions on install projects.\n· Read install plans and identify starting locations, staging locations and changes.\n· Properly loads and unloads trucks from loading dock, using ramps or on lift-gates to protect goods being moved and supervises others doing the same. Completes all paperwork accurately and neatly and turns into operations daily.\n \nBackup to crew:\n· Assists Drivers in loading and unloading trucks.\n· Assist in pushing furniture, equipment, and cartons on wheels to and from trucks, offices, and warehouses.\n· Assist in setting & offsetting goods on equipment. \n· May be required to drive trucks up to Class A if qualified and approved. \n· May be required to assemble and disassemble systems furniture if qualified.\n· Assists the install/move process by communicating with project managers, the end users/customer and other crew members. \nSupervisory:\n· Supervises movers and installers as required to perform a quality job for the customer.\n· Trains crews in proper handling and safety techniques.\n· Promotes a positive workplace with employee engagement.\n· Ensure crews have appropriate meal and rest periods per company policy.\n Maintenance and Repair:\n· Perform minor repairs and cleaning of furniture systems on site.\n Administrative:\n· Completes all paperwork accurately and neatly and turns into operations daily, including timesheets, bills of lading, tick sheets, inventories, change orders, and disposal forms.\n· Complete red-line and stick drawings as needed.\nCustomer Relations:\n· Maintain excellent customer service with the customers, transportation, and operation teams to establish solid relationships.\n· Must be punctual at all times. If an emergency arises, inform the supervisor and warehouse manager immediately, so that appropriate coverage can be arranged.\n· Must work cooperatively with members of the crew.\n· Must be courteous, helpful, and professional to all existing and potential customers.\n· Must be respectful of rules at each customer site as to where to work and adhere to meal and rest period locations.\n· Must follow all confidentiality rules regarding any products or services that are visible at a customer’s move site.\n· Must follow all security rules for the company and assigned customers.\n Training:\n· Provides on-the-job training to install and move crews to ensure quality work is performed.\n Safety:\n· Performs work with quality, efficiency, and safety at all times.\n· Must abide by all safety rules; to include proper safety gear (back braces, safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, masks and/or gloves, etc. as required by the customer or by law), drive forklifts safely (seatbelt, slow speeds, ensuring trucks are chalked and using proper plates, etc.).\n· Report any unsafe dangerous requests from customers to senior management.\n Other duties:\n· Sign timesheets daily signifying your start, meal periods and end time daily, and other documentation is completed accurately and turned in by the time requirement.\n· If also a qualified installer, installs systems walls and splines, handles and stages product, performs detail work and trash-out functions on install projects.\n· If also a qualified and approved driver, drives trucks up to and including Class A vehicles.\n· All other duties as assigned based on business needs.\n QUALIFICATIONS:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.\n \nCOMPETENCIES:\n1. ORGANIZATION SKILLS - Organization and project planning skills with ability to juggle multiple assignments and tasks.\n2. LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents written in English such as procedures, work instructions, and timesheets. Must effectively communicate\n well with customers and coworkers.\n3. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and correctly interpret the legend on installation drawings and read both standard and metric tape measures.\n4. REASONING ABILITY - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.\n5. LEADERSHIP: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.\n6. OTHER DUTIES:\na. Problem solving and strong decision-making skills\nb. Must be familiar with and able to train others using various moving equipment and its proper usage such as dollies, carts, pads, straps, pallet jacks, forklifts, ramps, lift gates, and all specialty equipment including but not limited to roll-a-lifts, Genie lifts safe jacks, J bars, etc., etc.\nc. Must be familiar with basic systems furniture nomenclature and be able to identify upon sight, the major lines of the three major manufactures: Steelcase, Herman Miller, and Haworth.\nd. Must be familiar with project management reports such as Gantt and Pert charts and understand and interpret cut sheets.\ne. Must be able to produce detailed inventories of all goods exposed to on O&I and install projects.\nf. Must be able to accurately estimate small move and install projects to determine manpower, trucks, and equipment necessary to complete the tasks required.\ng. Must own and bring to work every day, a complete set of installation tools as defined in Corovan installation policy.\n h. Must be able to produce red-line and stick drawings. Has an understanding of space planning fundamentals and building code.\ni. Must be able to conduct a customer pre-move meeting, post destination signage and communicate all standard move and install protocol to the customers.\nj. Must be familiar with laboratory moving including packing of lab equipment, fine tune and detail work, PC disconnect and reconnect and must possess good customer service skills.\nk. Must be familiar with the O&I (Office & Industrial) move process and understand the move labeling and directional signage.\nl. Must complete Mover I & II, and Driver/Foreman and Supervisor I Level Corovan University training and pass the written tests. May also be required to complete and pass Installer I, II & III, and required to be a qualified and approved Driver I or II.\nEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:\n1. High School Diploma and/or general education degree (GED); or one to two (1-2) year’s related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.\n2. Valid California driver’s license may be required.\n3. If driving on behalf of company, a valid driving record that meets the company’s insurance carrier’s requirements.\n4. Two (2) years of warehouse/moving experience required, using various moving equipment and its proper usage such as dollies, carts, pads, straps, pallet jacks, forklifts, ramps, lift gates, and all specialty equipment including but not limited to roll-a-lifts, Genie lifts safe jacks, and J bars.\n5. Certified forklift operator certificate required.\n6. Knowledge of commonly used office furniture installation and moving concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field required.\n7. Moderate reading and writing skills with 1-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area preferred.\nPRIMARY LOCATION:\nSan Jose, various job sites and customer locations.\n \nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individuals are required to be able to sit or stand for long periods as needed throughout the day. \n1. Walking: May require walking primarily on a level surface but may include walking on uneven or inclined surfaces for lengthy periods throughout the day, often up and down stairs.\n2. Handling: Seizes, helps, or works with hands.\n3. Lifting: Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 75 pounds and pushing or pulling up to 150 pounds throughout the day. Pushing or pulling assignment may need to be done with inclines. May also include climbing or descending stairs while carrying goods up to 50 pounds.\n4. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction, reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required.\n5. Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.\n6. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.\n7. Vision: Reads paperwork and records on the computer.\n8. Talking: Communications by phone, email, text and in person.\n9. Sitting: May be required to sit at desk. May sit for long periods of time.\n10. Stairs: May also include climbing or descending stairs while carrying goods up to 50 pounds. \n11. Heights: May include working at height on a loading dock up, or on a lift-gate.\n \nWORK ENVIRONMENT: \nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing, assembly, and construction areas and under certain conditions require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields, hard hats, masks, gloves and/or hearing protection. All Overtime must be approved by manager after working.\n4.
