About the Role

Falcontek is seeking reliable, detail-oriented Janitors/Custodians to provide professional custodial services at the Perry Point VA Medical Center under a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs janitorial services contract. This is a non-personal services role: contractor employees work independently under Falcontek's supervision, not under direct government supervision, to keep patient care areas, offices, and common spaces clean, sanitary, and safe for veterans, staff, and visitors. The contract covers a base year plus three optional years (September 2026 – September 2030).

Key Responsibilities

Daily and routine cleaning duties may include:

• Empty and reline waste, recycling, and regulated medical waste containers; transport waste to designated collection areas.
• Dust mop, wet mop, buff, and periodically strip, scrub, seal, and wax hard floors to maintain a clean, uniform, slip-free appearance.
• Vacuum carpets, entrance mats, and runners daily; shampoo/extract carpets on a scheduled basis.
• Clean and disinfect patient restrooms, public restrooms, and shower rooms multiple times per day using germicidal/EPA-approved disinfectants; descale fixtures monthly.
• Clean and sanitize exam rooms, exam tables, patient wards, and unoccupied patient rooms between uses.
• Dust and spot-clean all horizontal and vertical surfaces, furniture, walls, doors, light switches, and fixtures up to 7 feet.
• Clean interior windows, glass partitions, mirrors, and door glass; remove smudges, film, and streaks.
• Clean and stock employee break rooms and kitchen areas, including counters, sinks, and appliances.
• Check and refill paper towel, toilet paper, and soap dispensers throughout assigned areas.
• Maintain clean, organized housekeeping closets and secure all cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Handle and transport infectious/bio-hazardous “Red Bag” waste and sharps containers to designated collection points, when required, following facility protocol.
• Follow aseptic cleaning procedures and infection-control protocols in clinical and patient care areas.
• Report equipment damage, safety hazards, maintenance issues, and lost articles to the on-site supervisor promptly.
• Follow posted safety signage and place warning signs during and after wet-floor cleaning to prevent slip hazards.
• Perform additional cleaning tasks as assigned, including emergency/terminal cleaning as needed.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English – able to read, write, speak, and understand instructions and safety information.
• Prior janitorial, custodial, or environmental services (EVS) experience preferred, ideally in a healthcare or medical facility setting.
• Able to pass a federal background investigation and obtain VA facility identification/access credentials.
• In good physical health and able to work in patient care areas without risk to patients; able to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods (including moving light furniture and equipment).
• Willing and able to complete required initial and annual training, including OSHA safety topics, infection control, HIPAA/Privacy Act, hazardous communication, bloodborne pathogens/Red Bag and Sharps handling, body mechanics, and emergency preparedness.
• Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement and comply with all Privacy Act and VA information security requirements (VA Rules of Behavior, VA Cyber Security Awareness training).
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work assigned shift, including occasional holidays as required by the task order.
• Comfortable working around cleaning chemicals and disinfectants; knowledge of safe chemical handling a plus.

Work Environment & Expectations

• Work is performed on-site at the Perry Point VA Medical Center campus, including administrative offices, clinical/patient care areas, restrooms, and common areas.
• Employees must wear a standard, clean, and neat custodial uniform along with a visible contractor identification badge at all times.
• Work must be coordinated with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) or designated facility staff to avoid disrupting patient care and normal facility operations.
• Employees are expected to maintain professional conduct and personal hygiene consistent with a healthcare environment; no food, drinks, or tobacco use except during designated breaks.
• All Government-furnished equipment, keys, and access badges must be safeguarded and returned/secured at the end of each shift.

COMPENSATION/PAY-RATE

• $17.75/hour + $5.42/hour (to go towards company paid healthcare)

HOURS (we have 1st and 2nd shift openings):

• 1st Shift: 7-3:30pm, M-F
• 2nd Shift: 3-11:30pm, M-F
