About the Position

• Prepare the operating room by setting up instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies prior to procedures.

• Assist surgeons and the surgical team during operations by anticipating instrument and supply needs.

• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure all infection control standards are met.

• Handle surgical specimens appropriately and ensure accurate labeling.

• Prepare and manage surgical instruments before, during, and after procedures.

• Collaborate with circulating nurses and anesthesia providers to ensure safe and efficient surgical flow.

• Verify and track surgical counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.

• Assist in patient positioning, draping, and equipment setup as needed.

• Support postoperative turnover of the surgical suite to prepare for subsequent cases.

• Maintain equipment functionality and report any issues or malfunctions to appropriate personnel.

Requirements

• • Minimum 2+ years of recent experience as a Surgical Technician or Surgical Assistant in an acute care or hospital setting.

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent.

  • Certification through NBSTSA or NCCT (preferred).

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.

  • Strong knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.

  • Familiarity with a variety of surgical specialties (e.g., general, orthopedic, vascular, obstetric, gynecologic, and laparoscopic).
