Location: Los Angeles, CA 90017
Job Type: Contract (13 Weeks)
Shift: Day Shift (3x8 hours)
Schedule: MondayFriday (8-hour shifts) with rotating weekends
Position Summary
The Financial Administrative Representative supports patient access to care by managing registration and pre-registration for outpatient and inpatient accounts. This role ensures accurate collection of patient financial responsibility, including copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles, while delivering excellent customer service to patients, physicians, and hospital staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient registration and pre-registration efficiently and accurately
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Calculate and collect patient financial liabilities
- Ensure compliance with medical screening requirements prior to admissions discussions
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations
- Handle document scanning and data entry tasks
- Communicate effectively with patients, guarantors, insurance providers, and healthcare staff
- Meet productivity targets (2030+ registrations per shift)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in:
- Hospital registration/admitting (mandatory)
- Medical billing and/or insurance verification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of:
- Medi-Cal, Medicare, Covered California
- COBRA, limited benefit plans
- Hospital Presumptive Eligibility Program
- Uncompensated Care Programs
- Familiarity with IPA and EMTALA regulations
- Strong understanding of medical terminology
- Typing speed of 45+ WPM
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, multitasking across systems)
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Certifications (Required Post-Hire)
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) within 3 months
- LA City Fire Card within 6 months
Preferred Qualifications
- Continuing education in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- Bilingual abilities

Work Expectations
- Must be available to work weekends as required
- Initial schedule may require working Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
- No time off requests (RTO) allowed during the first 2 weeks
