BHA - Residential Ext. Shift - Superimposed (3-Day)

Work Schedule:

This position is classified as a full-time Residential Extended Shift position.

• Regular schedule consists of three (3) 12-hour shifts per workweek (36 scheduled hours).

Employees will be assigned to different AMHR agency locations based on operational, program , and/or staffing needs

• Work schedules may include days, evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays based on program needs.
• Employees are expected to work their assigned extended shift schedule and comply with all agency attendance and scheduling policies.
• Additional hours may be assigned based on operational or client support needs.

Pay:

• Base rate: $18.50/hour
• Effective pay: approximately $21.58/hour due to the 4 hours of overtime paid at time-and-a-half during each 12-hour shift.

Summary of Job Functions:

The Adult Mental Health Residential (AMHR) Behavioral Health Aide – Residential Extended Shift provides person-centered behavioral health services and recovery-oriented support to individuals receiving Adult Mental Health Residential services. This position works collaboratively with the clinical team to promote recovery, safety, independence, and successful treatment outcomes while maintaining a therapeutic environment.

The Residential Extended Superimposed Shift position is designed to provide staffing flexibility while maintaining continuity of care throughout The Arc of Anchorage. Employees in this position work extended shifts and may be assigned to different work sites based on operational needs, staffing requirements, and client needs.

Employees are expected to adapt quickly to different agency locations, support multiple treatment teams, and maintain consistent documentation, communication, and person-centered services that align with each client's Treatment Plan and The Arc of Anchorage's Mission Statement and Guiding Values. This position performs the same essential duties as the Adult Mental Health Residential (AMHR) Behavioral Health Aide while providing flexible staffing coverage across the program.

Essential Job Functions:

• Maintain internal program statistics, referral data, follow-up records, and required documentation in electronic health record systems and other agency databases.
• Schedule rooms for treatment sessions, group activities, and meetings; answer telephones and the staff hotline as needed.
• Prepare and submit incident reports, critical incident reports, corrective actions, and other required documentation.
• Provide direct supervision while ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of clients at all times.
• Observe, report, and redirect clients
• Build therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Support clients in achieving treatment plan goals through coaching, encouragement, skill-building, and recovery-oriented supports.
• Facilitate or assist with therapeutic, recreational, educational, life skills, and recovery-oriented groups and activities.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, cooking/meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, budgeting, shopping, and community integration based on individual needs.
• Safely transport and accompany clients to medical appointments, legal appointments, community activities, and other approved outings.
• Complete required medication training, observe or assist with medication administration as permitted by agency policy, and accurately complete all required medication documentation.
• Implement approved crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, including MANDT.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic living environment while performing routine household tasks.
• Ensure client rights, confidentiality, and privacy are maintained in accordance with HIPAA, applicable behavioral health regulations, and agency policies.
• Observe for signs of abuse, neglect, self-harm, suicidal ideation, or other safety concerns and immediately report concerns according to agency policy.
• Collaborate effectively with clinicians, nurses, psychiatrists, case managers, families (when authorized), community providers, and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Participate in shift reports, treatment team meetings, supervision, staff meetings, and all required training.
• Provide behavioral health services in multiple agency locations based on operational, program, and/or staffing needs.
• Demonstrate flexibility by accepting assignments at different agency locations as determined by operational, program, and/or staffing needs.
• Follow all agency policies, procedures, emergency response protocols, infection control practices, and safety requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Knowledge of or experience in client care in a clinical or medical setting.
• Knowledge of cross-cultural issues.
• Knowledge of peer support mentorship, advocacy, and recovery support
• Understanding of trauma-informed care.
• Alaska driver’s license with acceptable driving history and driving records.
• Ability to maintain a collaborative and cooperative work environment and to work with a minimum of supervision.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to communicate professionally with clients, coworkers, families, and community partners
• Proficient with general office equipment including computers and related software, with Windows applications, databases, and report-generating software.

Required Licenses, Clearances & Trainings:

• Background checks as defined by licensing agencies
• Current TB test/clearance
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
• Driving record that meets our insurance requirements
• Pass mandatory agency trainings (i.e., CPR, Mandt, Programs)

Equipment Use:

• Personal Vehicle
• Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other office-related devices.
• Electronic documentation systems, communication devices, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties
• Household appliances and equipment, including stoves, ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, and other kitchen and laundry appliances used to support clients with daily living activities

Working Conditions:

• May be required to perform duties in the community
• This job operates in a therapeutic living environment

Physical Demands:

• Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
• Standing and moving about for extended periods of time
• Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
• Ability to see within normal parameters
• Ability to hear within normal range
