DPP is seeking a Machinist 2 for an opportunity with our client in the Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing industry. Work location: Onsite in Goleta or Oxnard, CA Work shift: 1st shift (9x80A) Duration: 12 months Term: W2 position, contract Work authorization: US Citizen Position summary: The Machinist 2 will support the Machine Shop department. As a member of the Machine Shop department, you'll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside fellow machinists, design engineers, and quality inspectors. Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Some travel is required (10% of the time).

Required technical skills: Ability to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications (English) Able to lift or move a minimum of 35 -50 lbs. for up to 12 hours per day; pushing or pulling 35 -50+ lbs. occasionally throughout the workday Able to read work instructions and use basic power hand tools Able to work in a standing position for extended time periods Experience fabricating component parts where set-ups are non-routine and tolerances are difficult to acquire and maintain Experience in complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations relative to tolerances, dimensions, tooling, and feeds and speeds Experience in following written set-up instructions and/or performing unique set-ups Familiarity with CNC Mills and machine programming software (example Mastercam, CAMworks, etc.) Machining experience (3+ years) Must be a U.S. citizen Must have experience running manual machines and performing set-ups Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Nice to have: 4+ years' experience on 3 Axis CNC machines, 4 and 5 Axis is a plus Experience with Fanuc and HAAS Controllers preferred. Proficiency in CAM programming with Mastercam preferred.
