Palm Springs, CA, United States (On-site) Job Description Shift: Days Hours: (not specified) The Clinical Nurse assumes principal responsibility for the total nursing care, assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation of each assigned patient and completing all documentation as required. The clinical nurse initiates teaching and educates the patient and family or significant other to attain optimal health. RN has access to all Patient Health Information for treatment purposes only. Responsibilities Department Specific Duties The Clinical Nurse assumes the care of the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients or well newborn patients and may perform the functions of circulating and recovery nurse for patients undergoing cesarean sections and other per partum surgical procedures. Department Specific Duties: Charge/Resource Nurse If the Clinical Nurse serves as charge/resource nurse, the nurse is responsible for the day‑to‑day shift operations in the department, which includes, but is not limited to: Staffing the current and following shift ensuring staffing ratios and acuities are adhered to. Entering staffing information for current shift into both Opt link and on the staffing assignment sheets. Rounding on unit and equipment (including One East) that requires daily checks and ensuring log sheets are complete. Managing unit resources in a cost‑effective manner. Demonstrating an ability to respond and provide direction in changing workload during crisis and emergency situations. Interfaces with physicians and their offices regarding scheduling procedures for the Perinatal Unit. Carefully overseeing and evaluating the dynamically changing scene of the Labor and Delivery unit as well as providing oversight of the antepartum and postpartum units. Serves as a resource to staff and addresses issues of patient care with staff and with physicians when appropriate. Helps to ensure regulatory compliance.
