Travel RN Job Details Location: Wausau, Wisconsin Specialty: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract Start Date: November 9, 2026 Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,040–$2,150 Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts Shift Schedule: Variable evening and night shifts, including 9:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m., 10:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m., 11:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m.–5:00 a.m. Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week, with low-census provisions that may affect certain hours Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and every other holiday Unit: 18-bed Emergency Department with approximately 3–4 patients per nurse Float Requirement: None specified Call: Rare on-call or callback opportunities may be assigned in advance Travel Emergency Department RN Requirements At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience Previous experience in a Trauma Level II emergency department required Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license Current BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, as applicable Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred Previous travel nursing experience preferred; candidates without travel experience should have at least 2 years of Level I or Level II trauma experience Recent experience with Epic electronic medical record documentation Ability to complete an EKG competency examination during compliance Strong clinical judgment, resilience, independence, adaptability, and timely task completion Emergency Department RN Responsibilities Deliver safe, efficient nursing care in a high-volume Trauma Level II Emergency Department Assess, triage, monitor, and manage patients with cardiac, neurological, stroke, pediatric, geriatric, respiratory, and other emergent conditions Perform focused assessments, administer medications, initiate treatments, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition Draw and process laboratory specimens and provide nebulizer treatments within the nursing scope of practice Collaborate with emergency providers, respiratory therapy, radiology, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team Document patient care accurately in Epic and use Pyxis medication dispensing technology according to established procedures Prioritize care effectively while managing multiple patients and completing assigned tasks independently Participate in rotating weekend and holiday coverage and support emergency department operations during changing patient volumes Apply now for this Emergency Department RN travel contract in Wausau, Wisconsin, and join a high-performing Central Wisconsin healthcare team.
