We're looking for an experienced Transportation Project Manager to join our growing Rhode Island team. This is an opportunity to lead impactful transportation projects, build strong client relationships, mentor talented professionals, and play an important role in growing BETA's presence throughout Rhode Island and New England.You'll lead projects from planning and design through permitting, bidding, and construction, while managing scope, budgets, schedules, quality, and client expectations. Your day may include leading project meetings, reviewing roadway designs, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, meeting with RIDOT or municipal clients, visiting project sites, resolving technical challenges, and mentoring engineers and designers.You'll work on a variety of projects, including:Highway and roadway improvementsComplete streets and multimodal transportationIntersection and corridor improvementsSidewalk and ADA improvementsStormwater and drainagePavement design and rehabilitationMunicipal and DOT projectsConstruction administration and supportResponsibilities:Lead transportation projects from planning and conceptual design through final design, bidding, and constructionDevelop and manage project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and deliverablesDirect multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating engineers, designers, environmental professionals, and other technical specialistsProvide technical leadership for roadway and highway design, including geometric design, grading, drainage, traffic control, ADA compliance, and pavement designReview plans, specifications, calculations, reports, and other technical deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and constructabilityEnsure projects comply with applicable RIDOT, AASHTO, FHWA, MUTCD, and other regulatory and design standardsCoordinate permitting, agency approvals, and regulatory requirements throughout project developmentSupport construction administration and resolve design, field, and constructability issues as they ariseLead QA/QC efforts and maintain BETA's standards for technical excellenceServe as a trusted point of contact for clients, municipalities, agencies, contractors, and other project stakeholdersRepresent BETA at client meetings, public presentations, agency coordination meetings, and project reviewsMentor and develop junior and mid-level staff, providing technical guidance and opportunities for professional growthSupport proposal development, interviews, and strategic business development initiativesCultivate new and existing client relationships and identify opportunities to expand BETA's transportation services throughout Rhode Island and New EnglandCollaborate with BETA's New England offices to leverage regional expertise and resources to deliver successful projectsPreferred location is BETA's Lincoln, RI office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.Growth Opportunities:BETA encourages and promotes employee advancement and career developmentLeads to potential advancement to more senior management positionsRequired Experience/Skills:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related fieldProfessional Engineer (PE) License8 to 15+ years of related engineering experience in highway design, stormwater management, ADA compliance, and roadway construction practicesProficient with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and ArcGIS/ProProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with AASHTO, RIDOT/MassDOT/ConnDOT design standards, MUTCDExperience with RIDEM and CRMC permitting regulationsStrong technical aptitude and an eagerness to learnExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong problem-solving skills with high attention to detailMust be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspectionsMust be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 poundsMust be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of timeMust have a valid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferred Experience/Skills:Experience with AutoCAD Storm and Sanitary & HydroCADOSHA Certifications (OSHA 10-Construction, OSHA 40-HAZWOPER, OSHA Confined Space Entry, etc…)Project Management experienceAbout BETA:BETA Group, Inc. is a New England based consultant engineering firm and leader in the fields of transportation, traffic, structural, civil/site, and water/wastewater engineering; landscape architecture; urban design and planning; GIS/asset management; environmental sciences and permitting; and construction services.
