Work Environment

This position is primarily based in a home care setting, where you will work one-on-one with pediatric patients in their familiar environments. Our supportive team culture emphasizes collaboration and communication amongst staff members, healthcare professionals, and families. Working hours are Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, with a manageable patient volume that allows for focused, individualized care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations for pediatric patients, assessing their physical capabilities, limitations, and overall needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address neurological, orthopedic, and developmental conditions.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques and modalities to foster mobility, strength, and overall physical function.
• Communicate effectively with families, providing education on home exercise regimens and treatment strategies to enhance patient care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, occupational therapists (OTs), speech-language pathologists (SLPs), and physical therapist assistants (PTAs), to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Adhere to a professional development plan that promotes continuous learning and skill enhancement.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will have the profound opportunity to work with a diverse population of pediatric patients, ranging from infants to adolescents. Your efforts will primarily focus on improving mobility and functional abilities in children facing developmental challenges, neurological disorders, and orthopedic concerns, ultimately enhancing their participation in daily activities and improving their quality of life.

Qualifications

• A valid New York State Physical Therapy License.
• Current CPR certification.
• A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy, with a Master's or Doctoral degree from an APTA-accredited program preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills to effectively evaluate patient needs.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement customized treatment plans that produce meaningful outcomes.

Preferred Experience

• At least 2 years of experience in pediatric physical therapy is required; however, all candidates will be considered.
• Experience with various therapeutic techniques and modalities relevant to pediatric care.
• Familiarity with the challenges and needs of children with special considerations in physical therapy.
