About the Position

Job Title: Wound Care Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Wound Care Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Other Hours per Shift: 9 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Med/Surg and Wound and Colostomy care License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: AHA BLS, current certification in wound care Must-Have: - Two years of Med/Surg experience - Wound and Colostomy experience Description: Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence-related care. Perform focused physical assessments and develop plans of care based on diagnoses and individual client needs. Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate. Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care. Assist in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment. Assess and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wounds treatment. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by the clinical staff. Work collaboratively with the healthcare team and refer to other disciplines as indicated. Teach, counsel, and assist individuals and families to take responsibility for preventing complications. Develop, provide, and evaluate staff education programs, including new employee orientation and continuing education. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries and initiate preventative measures. Escalate and communicate identified challenges, including ethical issues and conflict resolution. Collaborate with leadership to recommend best practices based on assessments. Participate in quality improvement activities and studies. Provide culturally competent education consistent with cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs. Maintain the confidentiality of patient data and information. Achieve and maintain professional competency through engagement in relevant activities. Identify community resources for clients and assist them in utilizing such resources. Manage assets related to rented equipment, including specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
