Aspiring Respiratory Therapist - Clinical Externship

Sampson Regional Medical Center has an opportunity for a Respiratory Therapy student to join the Cardiopulmonary Department! Description The Respiratory Therapy Extern shall function under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist. The work will occur while the student pursues a course of study to meet licensure requirements, and there will be coordination between the training program and the work site. Until a student demonstrates competency in a procedure, that procedure is to be performed under direct supervision. Requirements Must be enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program or recently graduated from a Respiratory Therapy program and eligible to be licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board. Must have completed a basic respiratory skills course at an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Student may not remain in this RCA status more than a total of 12 months or until they are eligible to be licensed by the Board, whichever occurs first. Must currently hold CPR certification. Hours Hours of work will follow that of the Respiratory Therapist schedule. Respiratory Therapists are scheduled to work either 6:45am - 7:00pm or 6:45pm - 7:00am.
