Project Operations Manager

Fenton Rigging & Contracting is seeking a Project Operations Manager to lead and oversee the execution of all project activity across the company. This role is responsible for managing and driving the performance of multiple Project Managers, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with company standards. You will serve as the operational leader of the project function—bringing structure, accountability, and continuous improvement to how work gets done. This is a hands-on leadership position, working directly with Project Managers, field teams, and executive leadership to improve execution, resolve issues, and elevate overall project performance. They are a performance-driven, relationship-focused organization that values leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement operating across: Industrial manufacturing Chemical facilities Heavy civil / railroad infrastructure (bridge replacement & restoration across the eastern U.S.) Key Responsibilities Project Oversight & Execution Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple active projects Monitor project activity through dispatch, labor tracking, and job costing systems Identify risks, issues, and performance gaps early and drive resolution Ensure proper allocation of labor and equipment across all jobs Support Project Managers in planning, execution, and close-out Project Manager Leadership & Accountability Directly oversee and support multiple Project Managers Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards Assist PMs with prioritization, problem-solving, and execution strategies Provide coaching, direction, and support to improve team performance Actively support the development of Project Managers through coaching, feedback, and performance improvement Act as escalation point for complex operational challenges Financial Performance & Tracking Review job costs, budgets, and billing accuracy across all projects Monitor labor productivity and equipment utilization Assist with forecasting and identifying financial risks and opportunities Work closely with accounting on billing cycles and WIP performance Ensure projects are aligned with profitability expectations Operational Coordination Oversee coordination between Project Managers, Dispatch, and Field teams Ensure alignment of schedules, resources, and priorities across all projects Improve communication between office and field operations Standardize workflows, reporting, and execution practices Serve as the primary point of communication for project performance to leadership Provide structured updates on project status, risks, and key metrics Present monthly updates in management meetings Identify trends and recommend improvements Process Improvement & Special Projects Drive improvements in project workflows and operational processes Help standardize best practices across all Project Managers Lead or support strategic operational initiatives Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions What Makes This Role Different True leadership role over project execution, not an administrative position Direct impact on company performance and profitability Hands-on involvement in both field operations and office coordination Work directly with executive leadership and decision-makers Opportunity to shape how projects are executed across the company Clear path for growth into senior leadership roles Qualifications Required Minimum 10+ years of experience in construction or heavy industry Minimum 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role Experience overseeing multiple Project Managers or similar personnel Strong understanding of: Job costing Billing and financial tracking Labor and equipment coordination Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong communication and organizational skills Must be legally authorized to perform work in the U.S. Preferred Experience in industrial construction Strong familiarity with dispatch or project management systems Experience balancing field operations with financial oversight Track record of improving processes and operational performance Based in Cincinnati, OH Combination of office and job site presence Active involvement in operations—this is not a desk-only role Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based incentives Full benefits package Long-term growth opportunities within the company #J-18808-Ljbffr
