Building Automation Controls Project Manager

Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Building Automation Controls Project Manager in Greater Los Angeles, CA to lead commercial BAS installations from design through commissioning while managing budgets, schedules, and technical teams.

Impact

Deliver building automation projects on time and within budget for commercial and institutional clients.

Drive seamless coordination between field technicians, programmers, and subcontractors.

Ensure quality standards and system performance across all project phases.

Build strong client relationships that generate repeat business and referrals.

Support team development through mentorship and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

Manage full lifecycle of BAS projects from preconstruction through warranty and closeout.

Oversee project budgets, schedules, resource allocation, and contract compliance.

Coordinate with mechanical contractors, general contractors, and facility stakeholders.

Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and system specifications.

Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates to clients and internal teams.

Supervise field installation, programming, graphics development, and commissioning activities.

Ensure quality control and adherence to contract documents and industry standards.

Develop project schedules and manage procurement timelines for controls equipment.

Conduct site visits to monitor progress and resolve technical or coordination issues.

Mentor junior project staff and promote continuous improvement across operations.

Requirements
Must-Haves

5+ years of project management experience in building automation or controls.

Prior field experience in installation, service, programming, integration, graphics, or sales engineering.

Strong knowledge of BAS platforms including Distech, Niagara, Tridium, Johnson Controls, Siemens, or similar.

Local to Greater Los Angeles area with stable work history.

Proven ability to manage commercial projects valued at $500K+.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice-to-Haves

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

LEED AP or CEM certification.

Experience with design-build or integrated project delivery methods.

OSHA 30 certification.
