Position: Universal Care RN

Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)

Job Description

The Universal Care RN is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to various patient populations, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This position requires a dedicated professional committed to maintaining high standards of patient care and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial nursing assessments and develop individual care plans for patients.
• Coordinate and oversee the delivery of patient care, directing support personnel as necessary.
• Provide direct patient care, evaluate treatment outcomes, and collaborate with healthcare teams for optimal patient care.
• Educate patients and significant others on healthcare needs and self-care practices.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to regulatory standards.
• Ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and their families in compliance with hospital standards.
• Assist physicians during patient exams and special procedures, including emergency interventions.
• Participate in the orientation and training of new personnel.
• Engage in continuous quality improvement efforts and maintain professional development through educational programs.
• Demonstrate competency in nursing practices as directed by management.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Certifications: Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, CPI certifications required. MAB or CPI certifications may be accepted.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience required, with charge experience preferred.
• Charting System: Experience with Epic is required.
• Travel Experience: Previous travel experience is required.

Skills

• Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills.
• Ability to manage patient care effectively in high-risk situations.
• Proficient in IV management, telemetry monitoring, and emergency protocol execution.
• Excellent communication skills to facilitate patient and team interactions.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity.

Work Environment

This position involves working in a fast-paced nursing environment, providing care to patients in need of observation or admission holds. The RN will be expected to float to different units as necessary and will participate in weekend rotation, covering every other Saturday.
