LSU School of Dentistry, General Dentistry Department, is seeking motivated and dedicated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2 at our New Orleans location.

Job Duties and Other Information

Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:

  • Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients.
  • Maintain and stock cabinet
  • Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
  • Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium Computer knowledge)
  • Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student
  • Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student
  • Place rubber dam and directed by dentist or student
  • Remove cement supragingivally from dental restorations and fixed restorations
  • Knowledgeable of computers.

Focusing on Customers: The ability to understand and meet the needs, preferences, and experiences of internal and external customers. Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to follow, reinforce, adapt, or develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state legal requirements, State Civil Service rules, and organizational policies.

Appointment Type: Classified Appointment

Career Progression: This position is part of the career progression group may be filled as a Dental Assistant 1 or 2.

Work Schedule: MondayFriday; work hours will be determined by department.

Work Location: 1100 Florida Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119

Compensation:

  • $15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title
  • $14.06 for Dental Assistant 1 title
  • $1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
  • $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
  • $1.50 for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).
