Job Title: Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg/Tele RN - Infusion/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 1900-0730, every other weekend and holiday Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute care experience License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Comfort with complex patients - Experience with titrating IV drips Description: The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical and telemetry setting. The unit caters to Oncology and Hematology patients, among others. Common diagnoses include gastrointestinal bleed, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, sepsis, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, and failure to thrive. Candidates are not required to have prior oncology or chemotherapy knowledge. Internal nursing staff will assist with meeting treatment needs. Nurses must be experienced with various IV drips and blood transfusions. There are centralized telemetry technicians monitoring patients, allowing nurses to focus on patient care. Charge nurses and house supervisors are available on all shifts, with charge nurses taking a modified patient assignment. Nurse aides support nursing staff, with ratios varying throughout the day and night. Respiratory therapy is available on-site 24/7 for complex respiratory needs. Scheduling is managed by a designated scheduler, aiming to accommodate requests, though block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. Floating to other units may occur, primarily within the medical-surgical setting, for observational needs or support tasks. Scrubs are required without logos from other health systems. Clinicians must adhere to clocking in and out during their shifts.
