The IT Support Specialist will serve as one of two members in the technology department within the Spokane R-VII School District. They will report directly to the Director of Technology and assist with ensuring teachers and staff have the tools they need to teach with as little downtime as possible. They will assist in maintaining district hardware and software and provide networking support to ensure consistent uptime.

Primary Responsibilities

• Help Desk Support: Respond to help desk work orders and emails in a prompt and professional manner.
• Hardware Support: Diagnose and fix issues related to district hardware.
• Software Support: Diagnose issues and help maintain various SaaS and local software systems used throughout the district.
• Installation: Set up and install district hardware and software as needed.
• User Management: Create new user accounts, reset passwords, and handle IT onboarding and offboarding.
• Maintenance: Perform routine system updates, install driver updates as needed, and perform patch management.
• Documentation: Provide and/or create training documentation for teachers and staff on district hardware and software usage.

Equipment and Deployment

• Configure and deploy Windows computers, chromebooks, phones, iPads, printers, and any other district technology hardware as needed.
• Repair and maintain student chromebooks.
• Manage asset assignments to students, staff, and rooms.
• Help install and configure cameras, switches, and other network devices as needed.

Systems and Network Support

• Create and manage user accounts through Active Directory, Google Admin, and Microsoft Entra.
• Help maintain servers and virtual machines through Windows Server to ensure as much uptime as possible.
• Provide network support with VLAN troubleshooting and help diagnose and fix various network related issues.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma with relevant experience, or a degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
• Experience: 2 to 3+ years working in an IT related environment.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication with ability to relay technical information in simple terms, time management skills, patience, and problem-solving abilities.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of Windows and iOS systems
• Microsoft Entra and 365 (Preferred)
• Active Directory
• Windows Server
• Strong networking skills, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, routers and switches, and network cabling
• Experience using a SIS (student information system) is preferred
