Tooling Technician

Job Summary The Tooling Technician will work with mechanical, process, and controls engineers to develop, assemble and implement custom equipment and tooling for the manufacturing process. The position requires hands‑on experience with manual and CNC machines, measuring equipment, and the ability to read and interpret drawings. Based in Southfield, MI with occasional travel to Michigan production facilities, the Technician reports to the Quality Manager. Responsibilities Perform routine preventive maintenance and equipment cleaning. Repair defective machines and fabricate parts, fixtures, and tools using lathe, drill press, milling machine and welder. Inspect machines to determine root causes of breakdowns. Assemble clean and well‑organized machines, including mechanical fitting, electrical panel layout, wiring, and pneumatic routing. Initiate purchase orders for parts, machines and services. Develop and track cost‑reduction proposals. Provide technical support to other departments. Qualifications 1+ year experience in a similar role or in machine building. Proficiency with manual and CNC machining. Strong understanding of good manufacturing practices, electrical safety and industrial maintenance processes. Basic computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. CNC skills and familiarity with Haas lathes and mills desirable. #J-18808-Ljbffr Maxitrol Company
