Responsibilities Complete assigned functions within the department, providing excellent customer service and operating food equipment. Interact with customers, physicians, nursing staff, and visitors to provide efficient, courteous, and accurate service. Perform routine duties in the sanitation area of the Food Service Department. Perform a variety of customer, food and sanitation related activities, troubleshooting as necessary. Maintain excellent communication skills with patients, customers and coworkers, responding to issues in a timely manner as observed by supervisors. Assess customer needs and deliver products accordingly, as reflected in supervisory feedback and biannual surveys. Record food temperatures during meal hours and take action when temperatures are not up to standards. Maintain personal hygiene and proper uniform in accordance with department standards. Complete daily washing and sanitizing, maintaining 100% compliance as observed by supervisors. Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times. Ensure 100% compliance with all record‑keeping requirements. Perform all assigned daily and monthly cleaning duties. Complete weekly cleaning lists. Perform equipment maintenance and manage supplies appropriately. Respect and use equipment appropriately; report any issues to supervisors. Train new employees in correct workflow procedures. Clean and stock immediate work area before leaving at end of shift. Control food and paper waste, using resources efficiently. Maintain and check floor par stocks on assigned floors and call rooms. Present professional courteous manner when dealing with patients and staff. Greet each patient and customer with a smile and helpful demeanor. Resolve customer complaints politely. Treat coworkers with respect, allowing for different work styles and viewpoints. Play an active role in Relationship‑Based Care and participate in department Practice Council. Education / Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred). Experience Previous food service experience (preferred). Skills Communication Building relationships Listening Computer skills Attention to detail Physical Requirements Medium work: exerting up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly. Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, stooping, visual acuity. Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, computer use, talking. Constant walking. Hazards Occasional exposure to bodily fluids, bloodborne pathogens, burns, chemical hazards. Working Conditions Occasional noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mists, odors. Travel The job may require travel from time‑to‑time, but not on a regular basis.
