Assistant Professor of Clinical - Family Medicine

Summary Provide health care for individuals in the primary care clinic commensurate with training and in accordance with the general policies and standards of practice, as established by the clinic. Delivers care appropriate for a primary care clinic with a multicultural patient population. Elicits detailed patient histories and conducts complete physician examinations. Reaches diagnosis and orders appropriate laboratory tests and referrals, etc., as well as counsels patient and family on health and disease. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Physician reports directly to the Department Chair for Family Medicine and is primarily responsible for the provision of high quality medical/cardiac care to our patients. Position will be located at UHealth in Kendall for clinical responsibilities as a 1.0 FTE, 60% clinical with 6 clinic sessions per week and serve on the Obstetrics and Delivery Unit as a 0.40 CFTE Primary Description of Duties and Responsibilities. Clinically responsible for providing all physician care generally provided at a primary care facility, actively managing all aspects of patient care while on shift, supervising and directing the center’s other clinical staff, ensuring accurate completion of charts and medical records within a timely manner, adhering to all clinical policies and procedures, delivering care, treatment, and referrals, arranging referral resources for medical specialties not provided at the primary care clinic, evaluating patients to determine medical condition through physical examinations, managing laboratory results and diagnostic imaging to establish diagnosis and treatment plan, maintaining high standard of medical practice, participating in training and development of the medical team, assisting in medical education of both patients and clinic staff, facilitating patient transition within and between health care settings, providing exceptional role modeling, participating in clinic protocols and formulary development, and documenting each on‑site/in office procedure, prescription, consultation and patient contact in patient’s chart within 24 hours. Additional responsibilities include counseling patients regarding medical and other problems, performing clinical procedures within scope and skill of practitioner/specialist, providing direction and leadership to clinic’s medical support staff, supervising nurse practitioner/physician assistant assignments and sign‑off on charts where applicable, conducting vaginal and, if trained, cesarean deliveries, identifying and managing obstetric complications, referring to specialists when necessary, and performing other job related duties as may be assigned by the Chair of Family Medicine.
