Retail Relationship Banker

Job Summary Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects as part of the Retail Banking Sales & Service team at Southgate branch. Identify customer needs and provide advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that best serve customers, while collaborating within the branch and across BMO partners to achieve business objectives. Key Responsibilities Proactively engage with existing customers and prospects to complete needs‑based assessments, growing loyalty and identifying immediate / future opportunities. Offer tailored solutions covering everyday banking, retail investments, lending, home financing (including business‑for‑self applications), and small‑business products. Guide clients on available digital and self‑serve options to make banking easy, simple, and fast. Support transaction needs based on customer traffic and help customers grow BMO’s business through appointment generation and community relationship building. Resolve customer questions and issues raised through consumer credit audits and quality checks, ensuring accurate data entry and compliance with legal, regulatory, and lending policies. Apply the risk management framework to the portfolio, protecting the bank’s assets while meeting yield, quality, diversification, and risk guidelines. Make credit recommendations for personal lending transactions, including home financing, using sound credit‑granting principles. Integrate marketing promotions and programs into customer conversations, providing strategic advice tailored to personal banking and credit card needs. Organize work information to ensure accuracy and completeness, and identify creative approaches to personalize each customer experience. Contribute to ongoing improvement of the overall customer experience and business results. Work across multiple branches or channels as needed, with a flexible schedule. Follow risk and compliance processes, maintain customer privacy, and comply with all regulatory and ethical requirements. Identify and report suspicious patterns of activity related to money laundering. Handle complex tasks and escalations, analyzing issues and determining next steps. Qualifications 2–3 years of relevant experience; post‑secondary degree in a related field desirable (or equivalent education and experience). Canadian applicants: registration to sell investment products completed (if applicable). Appropriate lending qualifications and designations. Working knowledge of personal and small‑business customer needs, retail investments, and lending products. Experience in financial services is an asset. Proficiency with social media, tablets, smartphones, and online tools. Consultative customer service or sales experience with a drive to deliver a personal customer experience. Results orientation and ability to thrive in a consultative sales and team‑based environment. Self‑starter with courage, confidence, and initiative to approach customers. Readiness to collaborate and work in various team capacities. Strong interpersonal skills, rapport building, active listening, problem solving, and flexible, creative responses to new challenges. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good organization, collaboration, and analysis skills. Compensation Salary range: $41,714.00 – $69,000.00 per year. Compensation may include a commission structure and performance‑based incentives.
