Senior Civil Engineering Technician – Substations | On-Site | U.S.

Lead civil design reviews for electrical substation infrastructure. BlueDot is recruiting a Senior Civil Engineering Technician for a confidential, on-site contract-to-hire opportunity. Use advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation skills to coordinate grading, drainage, roads and utilities, review deliverables and guide junior designers.

At a glance: At least 11 years of relevant experience and an associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology or a related field; 40 hours per week. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of one of the eligible U.S. offices listed below. The assignment is approximately six months; permanent conversion is not guaranteed.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and review civil design deliverables for electrical substation projects;
• Coordinate site development, grading, and drainage design activities;
• Support the design and coordination of access roads, internal roads, and utility infrastructure;
• Develop, review, and update civil engineering drawings using industry-standard design software;
• Coordinate design revisions and technical reviews across multiple engineering disciplines;
• Ensure drawing packages and technical deliverables meet project specifications and quality standards;
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers;
• Collaborate with engineers and project team members to maintain design consistency and coordinate project requirements.

Requirements

• At least 11 years of relevant professional experience;
• Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or a related field;
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation;
• Demonstrated experience leading and reviewing civil design deliverables;
• Strong understanding of site development, grading, drainage, roads, and utility design;
• Excellent technical coordination, communication, and organizational skills;
• Ability to work on-site at an eligible office location.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electrical substation or transmission projects;
• Familiarity with civil design requirements for electrical utility infrastructure;
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and reviewing complex engineering drawing packages;
• Proven ability to mentor junior designers and support technical team development.

Contractors working 30 or more hours per week may enroll in benefits through the employer of record, including. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage is available for the employee and spouse. Premiums are paid by contractors through pre-tax payroll deductions.
