Job Summary


The Behavior Technician will assist students in day to day activities and implement behavior intervention plans, helping them build skills in communication, socialization, self-help, and play using applied behavior analysis therapy. The Behavior Technician will collaborate with BCBAs, teachers, counselors and administrators to carry out behavior plans tailored to a student's individual needs

Responsibilities

• Implement behavior intervention plans developed by the BCBA
• Collect data and track student progress, and make necessary adjustment to plans
• Provide direct therapy to students using ABA techniques and strategies to promote skill development and behavior modification
• Assist in teaching adaptive skills such as self-care, communication, and social skills
• Collaborate with BCBAs and other staff to ensure coordinated and effective support to students
• Provide training to staff on effective concepts and strategies that will support students behavioral needs

• Must be have knowledge and full understanding with student data recording methods (frequency, duration, latency, task analysis)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/equivalent, minimum requirement
• Associate Degree or higher (psychology, special education, or related field), preferred
• Forty (40) hour RBT training, required
• RBT Certification, preferred
• Minimum 1 year experience

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift/carry children weighing up to 120 pounds
• Education setting, supporting student behavioral needs
• Working indoors in a classroom setting, may occasionally supervise students in outside play areas. Must be able to reach above head in order to assist or lift children on play equipment
• Able to sit on the floor and/or in chairs sized for young children for up to 45-60 consecutive minutes
• Must possess strength to lift/carry materials up to 20 pounds and strength to lift and/or reposition persons up to 50 pounds with assistance
• Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations (able to run/sprint for distances up to ? mile)
• Must be willing to participate and complete the Safety Care Training (initial certification and annual recertification).

Terms of Employment

• 183 days - student school year (additional days may be designated for training and/or program preparation)
• Salary and fringe benefits are to be established by the Superintendent in accordance with the policies established by the School Committee
• Employment subject to successful completion of background checks pursuant to federal and/or state laws
