The Building Maintenance Technician performs minor service and repair work on high-end residential buildings throughout New York City, using strong mechanical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues across multiple building systems. This role focuses on facilities and building maintenance, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained environments for residents and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on building systems and components across high-end residential properties in New York City.

• Use mechanical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in building infrastructure and equipment.

• Conduct facilities and building maintenance tasks, including routine inspections and corrective repairs.

• Carry out basic electrical, HVAC, and plumbing maintenance and repair activities as needed.

• Safely operate and maintain hand tools and power tools required for construction and maintenance work.

• Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and on-site stakeholders regarding maintenance needs, repair status, and project updates.

• Support demolition and construction-related activities on high-end residential demo projects while maintaining cleanliness and safety in work areas.

• Follow OSHA 30 and Site Safety Training (SST) guidelines and all relevant safety procedures at all times.

• Collaborate with project teams and site personnel to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks efficiently.

• Document work performed and report issues, progress, and any safety concerns to project leadership in a timely manner.

Essential Skills

• At least 5 years of building maintenance experience, ideally in a facilities or building maintenance role.

• Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to apply it to building systems and repairs.

• Hands-on experience with minor repairs across electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.

• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.

• Demonstrated ability to perform facilities and building maintenance in occupied or high-end residential environments.

• Effective troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving maintenance issues.

• Clear and professional client communication skills.

• OSHA 30 certification.

• Site Safety Training (SST) certification.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High-end residential building maintenance or construction experience preferred.

• Experience working on facilities or building maintenance projects in urban environments.

• Ability to work independently while coordinating with project teams and site personnel.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Work Environment

This role is based on high-end residential demolition and maintenance projects located above 59th Street in New York City. You work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., primarily on-site in active construction and demo environments. The work involves regular use of hand tools and power tools, as well as interaction with building systems such as electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. The environment requires strict adherence to safety standards, including OSHA 30 and SST guidelines. Appropriate construction attire is expected, and after one month, you receive a hard hat and branded T-shirts to wear on site.

This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
