This includes all hospital units, professional services, and support functions. The COO ensures BSWH hospitals provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care. They oversee hospital plans, policies, and programs to meet financial, service, quality, regulatory, and community goals. The COO manages activities to evaluate and improve hospital programs and practices. They ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and BSWH policies. The COO may represent the hospital to external authorities. They work closely with the hospital President, clinical leadership, and the BSWH executive team to enhance hospital operations.An entity Vice President (VP) develops strategy and business plans for business units. A business unit may include smaller entity vice presidents, like small hospitals or clinics. The VP manages strategy execution, identifies resource needs, and guides significant tactical recommendations. They focus on current-year operations and help establish multi-year strategies and business plans. Errors at this level can have a long-term negative effect on the organization's success. The VP manages and directs a single business unit or region. They typically oversee many levels of subordinate directors and managers with varied skills. They have managerial accountability for staffing and budgets for a large span of control, with at least two managers or directors. They exercise wide latitude in setting targets and approaches to critical assignments. They are accountable for executing part of the business strategy.Essential Functions of the RoleServes as the chief operations officer (COO) and top operations manager for BSWH BUMC.Develops and implements short and long-term goals for high-quality health care, patient safety, and satisfaction in the communities served.Leads initiatives to improve operations and build consensus. Aligns and focuses on operational priorities and targets with BSWH business goals.Oversees financial management of operations, including costs and business performance. Manages budget approvals, variance reviews, and cost-benefit testing for new programs and services.Manages the development and implementation of operational policies, procedures, processes, and best practices for assigned facilities and services.Implements controls for efficient use of resources. Monitors accountability systems, operational dashboards, and metrics for the assigned area.Ensures compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements and standards.Oversees activities to improve metrics for quality of care, patient safety, and experience. This includes evaluating patient satisfaction scores and developing action plans.Identifies and resolves operational problems and manages the implementation of solutions and change necessary to continuously improve operations.Partners with community managers, physicians, and healthcare organizations to assess needs, promote services, and build a positive image for BSWH.Key Success FactorsBachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field preferred.
