Marketing Coordinator Intern (Volunteer, Remote)

What is Duet? Duet is an online philanthropic platform that enables donors to provide meaningful aid to vulnerable families in a more dignified, efficient, and personal way. Families request the exact items they need to rebuild their lives, and donors pay for those items on their behalf. We currently provide support to refugee families in Greece, and are actively expanding for COVID-19 relief in LA. As of early 2021, Duet is a 501(c)-3 registered charity! Who is Duet? We are a group of over 20 recent graduates and students, largely from USC and other California colleges. We have been operating since March 2019. Since then, we have facilitated over $70,000 in donations and built a donor community of over 500 members. Duet has been featured in Viterbi News and Marshall News. The Role Duet is seeking a vibrant, self‑motivated, and passionate marketing coordinator to lead growth on our external social media and communication. You will be responsible for expanding Duet’s reach, messaging, and brand recognition, whilst working collaboratively with the rest of the marketing team – including the Chief Marketing Officer, the Graphic Design Intern, Social Media Lead, and Executive Assistant. We seek a highly‑motivated individual who can step into the role with initiative, ownership, and organization and has a proven track record of creativity and sustained effort. You will be a brand operative within Duet and will play a central role in bringing more awareness to an agile nonprofit organization that is serious about using technology for social good. The expected time commitment is 8–12 hours per week. There is flexibility in setting hours, with the exception of bi‑weekly all‑team events (an all‑hands meeting and a game night) and 1–2 regular meetings with the marketing team (times TBD, evenings PST). Specific Tasks Brainstorm month to month marketing campaigns using knowledge of global holidays, media trends, and current events Come up with new ways to explain Duet to new users Aid in tracking and optimizing where we are getting new users Assist in creating, managing, and crafting our email campaigns and mass communication Planning publicity strategies and writing press releases Content creation of video materials (or working with a team member who knows how) Staying up to date with new developments to launch and highlight new products or features Close collaboration with Partnerships, Business Development, and Design departments You will thrive if you… Have an interest in social good Familiarity with current and emerging media platforms Are excited to engage in conversations with philanthropically‑minded individuals Regularly keep up with social media trends Enjoy crafting a brand identity Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team Thrive in a fast paced, and constantly changing environment Creative thinker; someone who thinks outside the box Why Duet?
