Description
  • Conduct evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing established assessment tools and observational methods.
  • Craft individualized treatment protocols aimed at fulfilling immediate objectives while addressing long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing requirements.
  • Engage in personalized speech therapy sessions, focusing on language, communication, fluency, voice, and swallowing rehabilitation.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to develop comprehensive care plans.
  • Deliver education to both patients and families, ensuring that progress continues outside of therapy sessions.
  • Participate in occasional inpatient speech therapy assessments and provide interventions, ensuring seamless care through every stage of treatment.
  • Keep detailed and timely records that comply with state, federal, and institutional guidelines.
  • Pursue continual learning and peer interaction to stay abreast of advancements in the field.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required for those not already ASHA-certified.
Certifications
  • State licensure in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based treatment practices for various age groups, with a solid grasp of both developmental and acquired speech disorders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Flexibility to adjust therapeutic methodologies to suit diverse cultural and linguistic requirements.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation practices.
