divh2Driver/Maintenance Worker/h2pWho We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 73,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today. CAMBA operates 6 single adult shelters and 6 family shelters and one drop in center. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility. Homeless (often mentally-ill and substance-abusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing. Park Slope Shelter for Women serves 100 MICA (mentally ill chemical abusing) women at the Park Slope Armory in Brooklyn./ph3What The Driver/Maintenance Worker Does:/h3ulliIdentify and document all maintenance issues on work order form./liliImmediately report maintenance equipment issues (i.e., inoperable, missing, etc.)/liliComply with all maintenance regulatory requirements at all times./liliUtilize appropriate safety standards (i.e., wear safety goggles, masks, appropriate attire) and display safety signs when performing tasks./liliClean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, window blinds, and draperies./liliClean and sanitize toilets, sinks, tubs, showers, shower fixtures, including walls, floors, curtains, stalls, and mirrors./liliReplace light bulbs, light fixtures, light covers, electrical outlet covers and ballasts as needed./liliDust and/or wipe furniture, equipment, and ceiling fans./liliSeparate and transport trash, recyclables and waste to disposal area and consolidate for pickup./liliRespond to and prepare for inclement weather (i.e., prepare sandbags, tie down loose outdoor items, remove snow and/or ice from the sidewalks, driveways and stairs, etc.)./liliClean storm drains and gutters to ensure proper drainage./liliPolish metalwork, including lighting fixtures./liliReplenish bathroom supplies including toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap./liliWash walls, ceiling, woodwork, windows, sills and door panels, heating and cooling vents and air conditioner filters./liliPlaster and paint interiors of buildings./liliReplace door handles or locks as needed./liliRemove graffiti from interior and exterior surfaces./liliReplace cracked or missing floor tiles, wall tiles and ceiling tiles as necessary./liliPerform daily pre-trip vehicle inspection prior to first trip of the day./liliImmediately report vehicle and/or equipment that are inoperable, missing or improperly utilized./liliComplete vehicle travel log for all trips./liliAssist passengers needing assistance in order to enter and/or exit vehicle./liliKeep vehicle clean and/or free of litter at all times./liliMay make minor plumbing and electrical repairs./liliMay escort clients to appointments/li/ulh3What are the Qualifications for the Position:/h3pEducation, Licenses and/or Certifications Required :/pulliSufficient education and technical expertise to comprehend written and oral instructions (work orders); to accomplish/li/ulpMinimum Experiences and Skills Required:/pulliMust have Valid New York State Drivers License and excellent driving history./liliMust complete NYS Approved Defensive Driving Classes every 3 years./liliMust take Refresher Computerized Defensive Driver class/liliMust remain insurable based on CAMBAs point system throughout the duration of employment./liliIf required to drive 15 passenger van, must score at least 80% on computerized 15 passenger van improvement test every year. If required to drive 15 passenger van, must pass an observed Van Road Test Acknowledge review of CAMBAs Transportation Policy May be required to become First Aid/CPR certified./liliMay be required to become certified in overdose prevention./li/ulpPreferred Qualifications:/pulliBi-lingual English and Spanish./li/ulpPre and/or Post Employment Requirements:/pulliTB test required/li/ulpCompensation : $19.06 hourly When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
