Sonographer

Our client, a leading healthcare provider in New York City, has an immediate need for an experienced Sonographer to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. You must be RDMS certified and have prior experience performing biophysical profiles, gynecological scans, anatomy scans, and first, second, and third trimester scans, including nuchal translucency scans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform clinical assessments and diagnostic sonography examinations. Review patients' medical histories and physicians' instructions. Prepare equipment for procedures, select appropriate settings, explain procedures to patients, and record relevant medical information. Guide patients into optimal positions for imaging. Use independent judgment during sonographic exams to differentiate between normal and abnormal findings. Select images for physician review, take measurements, calculate values, and analyze results to prepare preliminary reports. Complete preliminary examination reports for review with attending physicians. Ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients during procedures. Maintain ultrasound equipment and work area, ensuring supplies are adequate. Follow safety, infection control, and quality assurance policies and procedures. Assess complex health and well-being needs, collaborating with the team to develop, monitor, and review care plans. Demonstrate sensitivity, confidentiality, and empathy, understanding diverse physical and emotional needs.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in sonography from an accredited institution. Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), registered in OB/GYN. NY/NB certification preferred; certification in Fetal Echocardiography is a plus. Minimum of five years of experience in an OB/GYN setting. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, instrumentation, physics, patient care, and medical ethics. Ability to adapt to various work assignments. Proficiency in computer use, data retrieval, and input; familiarity with medical software. Excellent listening and communication skills, with the ability to convey information accurately and concisely. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
