First Assistant Golf Professional The Quarry at La Quinta is accepting applications for a seasoned First Assistant PGA/LPGA professional to assist the new Director of Golf for the 2024 season. The club is a private, no‑tee‑time operation with fewer than 300 members, located in the Coachella Valley/Palm Springs area of Southern California. Under the leadership of the Director of Golf, the First Assistant Golf Professional (FAGP) will help lead a team of seasonal pros and outside services staff to deliver the "Ultimate Golf Experience" to members and guests. The FAGP will embody the club's core values and provide personalized and anticipatory service in the absence of the Director of Golf. The 20,000‑square‑foot clubhouse surrounds an indoor‑outdoor concept with panoramic views of the course and the Santa Rosa Mountains. Duties include directing golf programming and training, managing golf department staff, assisting with the retail operation, and ensuring the member experience is exceptional daily. Key Responsibilities Act as primary point of contact for members and guests in the absence of the Director of Golf, consistently providing personalized service. Maintain a strong presence throughout the Golf Shop, practice facilities, and golf course. Perform daily Golf Shop opening and closing procedures, including reconciliation of the day's business. Communicate regularly with the Director of Golf regarding operational priorities and staff performance. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards of the Golf Shop, office, and storage areas. Assist in scheduling Assistant Golf Professionals and outside services, assigning daily responsibilities for efficient workflow. Support the caddie program by facilitating relevant information regarding members with requests. Anticipate daily players' needs, including caddies and equipment. Ensure all computer systems are working properly and sales are processed correctly. Maintain practice facilities and golf cart fleet in exceptional condition. Devote time to playing golf with members and guests, not as a lesson. Represent The Quarry at professional golf activities, including tournaments as time permits. Develop trust and confidence with the membership. Demonstrate leadership by maintaining a positive, upbeat role and exemplifying company values. Provide excellent customer service by following up on complaints, questions, and concerns. Foster teamwork and cooperation among co‑workers. Comply with safety practices and attend safety training. Assist in planning, organizing, and executing golf tournaments, member events, and golf programming, managing communications, cart logistics, and event operations. Assist in preparing and distributing membership communication emails. Maintain and oversee the club’s GHIN handicap system and related reporting functions. Support golf shop merchandising, inventory management, fitting events, and visual display standards with the Merchandiser. Contribute positively to the overall culture, professionalism, and service standards of the Quarry. Candidate Qualifications Experience working closely and successfully in a private club with an active board and committee structure. Knowledgeable in best practices and tech‑savvy, member‑focused. Record of successful management of outside services and assistant golf professionals; exceptional communication skills with members and staff. Outgoing, relationship‑driven professional who truly enjoys the club environment. Personal character that personifies professionalism on and off the golf course. Confident player who enjoys playing opportunities with members and guests. Educational, Certification, and Experience Requirements Preferred bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Golf Management (not required). In lieu of a degree, substantial golf professional and private club experience will be considered. Minimum three years of experience in private or resort club golf operations. PGA/LPGA Class “A” member or associate professional in good standing who has passed Level II with a minimum of three years in a similar facility is desired. Salary and Benefits Salary is open and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The club offers an excellent bonus and benefits package, including professional dues and education expenses for PGA members.
