Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: EPIC experience required Availability to work 2 of 3 upcoming major holidays Description: The position requires a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Candidates will be expected to work two of three major holidays: Thanksgiving Day/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve/New Year's Day. If the contract covers only two of these holidays, the traveler will be expected to work one of the two. The candidate will undergo a clinical pre-screening to determine clinical fit. If the candidate passes the clinical screening and meets all guidelines, they will be reviewed by the manager for the final decision. Interviews will be conducted by the manager. The role may involve caring for patients with COVID-19. The facility has a tobacco and fragrance-free policy, and travelers must notify the staff prior to submission if they have any concerns. The unit may require floating to all ICU floors as needed. The patient ratios are approximately 2 per nurse during days and nights. Weekend coverage is required, with shifts expected every other weekend. The unit staff includes interdisciplinary support, such as IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services. The patient population consists of adults and geriatrics. The typical patient diagnoses include vascular surgeries, complex abdominal surgeries, and other critical post-operative care. Clinical skills in arterial line management, care of ventilated patients, and interpretation of arterial blood gases are essential. Candidates are expected to manage dysrhythmias and provide care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction. Additional skills include administration of emergency medications and management of vasoactive drips. All candidates must adhere to facility policies and complete any required testing or training prior to starting the role.
